Vertigo to Grazalema
I knew this road was wild. I’ve been on it a couple of times in a car. I think it’s less traumatic on two wheels but it still gave me the heebie-jeebies at times (e.g. extra) and by the time I was nearing the col, I was ready to feel land on both sides of me!
It’s a spectacular road and I didn’t see any other cyclists on it and barely any vehicles which made for a really pleasant ascent - just me and the vultures!
I whizzed on down to Grazalema (just slowing for a deer), thought about stopping but there were too many tourists and I had enough food and water to carry on.
I knew I had to leave enough in my legs to get back up the hill to Ronda and continue on uphill for another 3km to the campsite (which itself must be on at least a 12% gradient!)
Anyway, I made it - bushed but satisfied. It’s warm enough to do my stretches outside and I’m in a quiet corner so I’m not making a spectacle of myself!
