Cabeleireiro

Hairdresser.

As I scouted for a breakfast spot, I shunned sleek cafés that looked like the Apple Store, where you can only access the menu by scanning a QR code. Happily, Lisbon abounds with traditional and simple places and I found one with a 1960s vibe and an old proprietor who was mostly deaf. These are totally up my street. €3.80 for tasty fare and coffee. Thanks very much, consider this the day well kicked off.

My hair always gets bushy and mushroom/shaped when it’s long and because of so much work travel I’ve struggled to get to a barber. I found a hairdresser who turned out to be Colombian, and we chatted about how wonderful his country is to travel, with all of its diversity and scenery. Before I left he made sure I sampled an espresso made from Colombian coffee, to prove why I must include the country in my future travels. As if I needed any more convincing.

The hairdresser was close to the Campo Pequeno building, which remains as Lisbon’s active centre for bullfighting during certain months of the year.
