Canterbury Cathedral

A day of two halves today.  This morning we drove to Wildwood Trust wildlife park for a look around.  They specialise in species that would have been found in this country, but are often not there anymore.  We saw arctic foxes (first extra), wolves, ravens, storks, egret, pine marten and some bison.  And then the heavens opened, and it rained and rained and rained.  We were at first hiding within a polecat building, but decided to chance it as it eased off.  This was a mistake and we got very wet.  We did manage to watch a bear climb down from a tree during a point when it eased off a little.

We returned to the car for drier coats and trousers, and then had a lunch and a cuppa watching the rain hammer down, and listening to kids singing songs about the rain.  We then had a final look around, seeing an asleep beaver, some owls and the chicken enclosure (complete with information board like every other species) before heading into Canterbury,

We had a wander around trying to find the entrance ("walk towards the big towers" doesn't quite work in a city when you can't see them!) and then had a good wander around.  The main blip is of the chapter house ceiling.  There are extras of the inside and of two new statues of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip.

We left on the stroke of 5pm as it closed, and headed to a supermarket to buy some dinner to cook back at the cottage.
