Comfort food

Another productive day, which started by having coffee with a fellow card maker in the Atrium. There are three of us who keep the stand filled with greetings cards and it was good to have a catch up with her. Unfortunately the other lady was ill so unable to be with us.

The rest of the day went by in a blur of activity. One of The Traveller’s closest school friends lost his father to MND at the weekend and several of the chaps were going round to visit him and his Mum this evening. I was requested at short notice to make a lemon cake and some Nutty Joys (oaty ginger biscuits) for The Traveller to take with him, in a reprise of the old days when the lads would tuck in to these comestibles at our house.

Thus I made a double batch of both, in order that Smithers wouldn’t lose out. This is his supply of Nutty Joys. I couldn’t photograph the lemon cake because he’d already taken a doorstep from the end, which means it doesn’t look quite as photogenic now.
