Wet, Wet, Wet ;-D
Our last full day in the Lakes began with bowls of porridge, cups of tea & a little planning.
We hadn't swam nor visited some things we wanted to see further south, so after giving up trying to make sense of the swimming pool online booking system, we chanced our arms by riding through lots of rain to Kendal Leisure Centre where the Receptionist fitted us in for an hour. We changed from our wet motorcycle gear into swimming cossies' and got even wetter in the pool. We aren't into olympic swimming, preferring to dawdle from end to end. Very relaxing :-)
From their we found somewhere dry to store our bikes in Kendal Town Centre. Ms.Arell found a fab little cafe for lunch and a mug of very hot latte. Very nice!
Lastly there was some of the as yet still disused Lancaster Canal to look at. The canal originally ran from Preston to Kendal but due to some monumental short sightedness was severed in two during construction of the M6 motorway, leaving the southern section still navigable. The northern reaches as they became known are in varying states of disrepair or partial restoration.
We visited Hindcaster Tunnel & Stainton Aqueduct. I really hope it gets fully restored one day as the infrastructure is really grand and the route a nice one.
A damp, dark ride back north took us home to Biker Base for tea in front of roaring fire *^_^*
