Peacock
It was pouring with rain and 4ºC when we arrived in the Chilterns from London at 7.30am. MrHCB lit the wood burner for the first time since Easter. Later, the rain stopped, the temperature soared to 7ºC, and we discovered a Peacock butterfly sunning itself on the window ledge. It probably came in asleep on a log from the log store. Once it had soaked up some energy and started flitting about, we caught it and put it back by the log store. I hope it finds somewhere cosy to spend the night (or indeed the Winter). Every butterfly is precious this year.
