Unscheduled Ipswich Minibreak

Our Waverley sailing was cancelled at less than 24hours notice which unfortunately meant it was too late to cancel the hotel we had booked for our late night return and thus we find ourselves obliged to spend a night in Ipswich for no good reason. No offence to the town but it’s not Suffolk’s top tourist destination! The hotel reception took at least some pity on our plight and whilst declining to refund us, they upgraded us to a much more luxurious room with a view for only a small fraction of the price. So we find ourselves watching the sun set over the Ipswich marina instead of sailing under Tower Bridge. Such is life.
