Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

We all took a walk across the Meadows today, aiming for town.  But we stopped in at the cafe instead. The new restaurant was mobbed, so no seats there - it's doing really well now, so no more just popping in, expecting to get a table...

After a coffee and a toastie on our favourite window seat, JR left us to to go on into town, Archie and I wandered home. It was sunny and warm(ish). We passed the Croquet Club, which had a Open Day, and was quite busy, from what I could see through their big hedge. We tried that once, BA (Before Archie) and met a couple of Aussies there, who turned out to live opposite us, and we became good friends. I liked croquet, ie the just 'bashing' version, but the serious people play a much more complicated game, which tended to last for hours, so there was no way we could keep up the new hobby. Besides, we got a dog. And they got a baby. And then went back to OZ...
