Trigger's Broom
A lucky chance Blip tonight. As I arrived at Rhydyronen to give Meg a run this evening, there were people on the bridge and in the station area, clearly waiting for something. I parked at the ball field and jogged back to the station, crossing the stile into the yard almost at a run I arrived in time to catch a look at the goods train passing through. It's hauled by No 1, Talyllyn which is 160 years old this week. After several rebuilds and numerous overhauls, it looks very similar to the 1860's version but I think that there is almost nothing left of the original.
It was the Preservation Society AGM today and a weekend Heritage Gala has been organised, this one of the many extra heritage trains running today. An extra pic of the Vintage Set of carriages hauled by Talyllyn and No2, Dolgoch, just a few months the younger, arriving at Abergynolwyn this morning. This run of four carriages and the guards van also date from the 1860's, a very special heritage train indeed.
A short work shift this morning but a very busy one. I was ready to stop by 2pm when I finished. Later in the afternoon four of us from the Tuesday singers performed a few shanties for the gathering of folk at the start of Tywyn's first Pride event. A low key start by Pride standards but a welcome opportunity to show solidarity with everyone's right to be themselves. There was a pavement procession to the Neuadd (Hall) where an evening event was being staged. Lots of tickets sold and there was a lovely atmosphere. I couldn't stay as Meg had already had too long on her own today.
Earlier in the afternoon sunshine I caught the Painted Lady of yesterday out in the garden, an extra of a subject with some resonance today!
Today's title explained.
