Great Malvern Priory Church

We have visited the Priory church here in Great Malvern today, set in the Malvern hills.  Worship has taken place here for over 900 years. The Priory still shows the times that were manufactured just yards away and covered the walls a floors in the 13th century. Misericords used by the monks are still in use and there are two new stained glass windows created for the millennium angst the many medieval ones.
Elgar lived here for 13 years during which time he composed some of his most famous pieces including, Enigma Variations and Pomp and Circumstance, surely the most quintessentially English music.

We are staying at a place called Halfway House which is halfway between Worcester and Great Malvern. When we checked in we were asked if we’d been visiting the flower show. It has apparently been the RHS Malvern Autumn Show at the Three Counties Ground nearby ( Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire) Good weather for it but it has been dire around here last week.

In the extra Eda enjoying her birthday tea with family and friends she is 7 today and will have her party tomorrow. After breakfast we will be heading SW to join the party celebrations
