Ambush...
Every couple of days I toss some fish food sticks into our pond. The native Gambusia (minnow sized mosquitofish) don't really need to be 'fed' since they have plenty of natural food to eat but they like the pellet snack and I enjoy feeding them. Lately though, this female American Bullfrog has been taking advantage of our interaction. She waits stealthily for the fish to begin happily feeding on the snack and then she leaps at (or at least in the direction of) one of the unsuspecting diners. I'm guessing that she misses more often than not but she must have some success or she wouldn't do this...every time! My main shot is of her just before she jumps and the extra is of her pretending that she's not interested. As entertaining as all of this, I feel just a bit guilty that I continue to be a part of this deadly deception.
