The Source of the Thames!

We made it - without having to resort to a taxi at all today. We were able to avoid the waterlogged part of the Thames Path near Cricklade by using a path on the line of an old railway, then the next part of the Path was quite dry. However whilst the last section up to Kemble started off OK, we ran into serious flooding so had to backtrack onto a road. And then the final field before the Source was deeply flooded so I got wet feet, it came over the top of my hiking boots. So we ended up walking 15 miles today, making a total of 55 miles over 5 days. I was pleased that my knees did pretty well - all the physio I've been doing must have paid off.

We gather that the "Source" is actually often dry, but after all the recent rain it was anything but dry! In the puddle near the marker stone you could see water bubbling up from below, but it's almost impossible to capture it adequately without video.

The extra is a rather pretty scene we passed on our way. The house is on the site of an old watermill; this part of the Thames splits from the main river a little upstream of here then joins it again further downstream
