The lake at Graninge - stars and a long-gone sun

This has been one of our favourite spots for the camper van. A great swimming place with picnic tables, neatly cut grass and lots of shallow water leading into this huge lake. Okay, now, as September moves towards October it wasn't likely we'd swim. When I took this picture the temperature was just above 2°C, but the place was still very lovely.
We drove here through a sunlit autumn forest. Lots of clear air, blue sky, gorgeous colours; a day almost too good to be true. Along the way we stopped in Kramfors at the local bookshop, and then a bit further on the road we had a snack a coffee with Lonny. It's actually a 2 hour drive but we managed to make it last all day!
We arrived here before the sunset and enjoyed the spectacle. This picture is taken around 2 hours after sunset and in reality the illuminated section of the horizon wasn't anywhere near so bright. This is a place with very few lights and there were so many stars in the sky. I sat outside a half-hour hoping to see Northern Lights but they stayed away. The alternate reward was seeing the cloud of light that is the Milky Way appear instead, as that light horizon darkened down.
Eventually the cold drove me back to the camper van, which felt very warm when I climbed in. The heating had been on a while and the space is very small.
When we went to sleep we turned off the heating but the warm bedding kept us cosy all night, even as the temperature went down to single figures in the van.
