Red Sky At Morning ...

This is the dawn this morning -- a blood red sky.  We were supposed to be visiting Sitka today, but there is a monster storm out in the Gulf of Alaska with winds forecast to be in the region of 50 knots and waves of up to 30 feet later this afternoon, so our captain has wisely decided to divert our ship to the Inside Passage which we hope will give us some shelter.  Lunch will be served early today, as we will have to re-enter the Gulf for a short period before returning to the Inside Passage.  You know it's going to be a wild ride when they close the pool deck and serve lunch at 11:00 a.m.!!!

Extras:  A much closer encounter with whales yesterday afternoon -- a pod of Orcas were chasing seals next to our ship.  Also a beautiful, serene scene yesterday just before sunset ... the calm before the storm!
