Party
After work, I made my way to Raynes Park station and found two consecutive trains that had been cancelled. Fortunately, my journey to North Greenwich did not take as long as I'd expected, and I still managed to meet PY at the station on time. We found the Canteen Foof Hall and Bar and were greeted by Celia, Director of the Open House Festival, although we didn't know that until later. We got our drink and found a seat. While sitting, a lady named Judy came and chatted about her experience volunteering in Greenwich.
There were a few speeches thanking the volunteers for their participation. It was a lovely event, and I am happy I went. As part of the evening, we visited the Open Hosue offices and looked at the basketball court that had been booked for us to play a game, but we decided we needed to eat. Unsure of what to do, we ended up in The O2 at a Gorden Ramsey Street Burger. I don't know if the £20 offer is usual, but it felt like good value. We sat and ate our burgers. PY declined the second drink, but I'd already ordered mine, so he had to sit and watch me drink a glass of red wine before we could take the Jubilee Line back to Southwark, where we exited and walked along The Cut to Waterloo (via Sainbury's so he could but ingredients for tomorrow's lunch).
When we arrived at the road junction outside Waterloo Station, I met some people who'd just come out of the Tai Chi class I should have been at. I think I made the right decision to go and meet the other volunteers and show support for the Open House event, but I did feel a bit guilty as we headed for our train home.
