Quod oculus meus videt

Glen Etive

I was out while it was still dark so I could get down to the southern end of Glencoe for sunrise. I even started walking in what was still very murky conditions.

It was surprising not to bump into at least another photographer, but the only person I spoke to was a contractor for the National Trust who asked me if I was flying a drone (I wasn’t). He said that Scottish law prevented people from flying drones over other people’s land. I couldn’t resist exploring that statement with him, after I made him aware that I was a qualified pilot.  UK Law around drones is regulated by the CAA and the police have powers to act, but to my knowledge there is no separate regulation in Scotland. A drone pilot is allowed to fly over other people’s land unless there are restrictions (e.g. near prisons, airports, etc) in place.

I managed to stop at another couple of locations (see extras) before heading back for breakfast.

We then headed over to Glenfinnan but by the time we got there it was raining. L was not feeling that well, so she stayed around the visitor centre while I took the scenic route around the viaduct to take a few photos.

We relocate to Skye tomorrow and it looks like we are going to get three days of reasonable weather.
