Because tomorrow will be the first of the month, Council Tax will be due on all flats no matter whether they are occupied or vacant. I now have access to three flats, two of which are vacant, and until I own the building, my landlord is paying the council tax on the vacant ones. I wrote to the council at the beginning of September to notify them that from 1st October there would be only one flat on the ground floor flat, albeit larger than the other flats in the building, and that I would like them to work out what band a larger flat falls into. They've told me it will need to be assessed but they have not provided us with a new bill. So just in case anyone from the council comes round to inspect, this evening we made absolutely certain that in truth, there is a single, albeit larger, flat on the ground floor.
