Getting ready for the naming ceremony

Mum made Maple a fruit cake and we both decorated it together today. Rather proud of our efforts!

Cannot believe it was this day last year we boarded a plane for Dubai. We left the UK after living there over 7 years. We arrived in London as a couple and left as a family of four with one on the way (Little did we know how soon it would be!) This day last year provided a mix of emotions: relief we were finally on the plane. Excitement at the new adventure ahead. Nervousness about everything running to plan for Maple's birth (Childcare arrangements, insurance etc). We felt sad to say goodbye to some very close friends.

So it has been a year now and I can say the experience has been worth it. I think Stu and I get given interesting life challenges because we can handle it (Just). Dubai has opened our eyes a little more to the diverse world out there and we are making the most of the lifestyle. Every city (Or Emirate!) has it's quirks but you have to make the most of what they have to offer and Dubai has a lot.
