Shepherd's hill ruins

There are remains of military installations at the Southern top point of King Edward Park.  I took Maggy there to have a romp as she has been going stir crazy at home today.

I have often blipped it before and understood it was used as a signal station during WWII but I have found an article on Wikipedia (see here if you are interested) about it's history dating back to 1890.  Prior to being used for military purposes, it was mined for coal in 1840 with a copper smelting works operating on the site.  During WWII it was much more than just a signal station.

Tickets were purchased for the AO today, Maggy's new bed arrived and aside from that, there is not much to report.

Thanks for hosting steveng.
