Crow

A crow stood 
on her tippy toes
on the tippy top 
of an old dead tree.

I know that crows
do not have toes
But please read on.
Pretend with me.

This crow looked down
from her perfect perch
poised for prey
in a peeling birch.

And a child looked up
wishing he
could climb that high
in an old dead tree.
