The ‘Long Walk’.

We have gone west and are now in Windsor.

Said goodbye to the girls as they left the house this morning. Eda, bless her, is always disappointed that we are leaving and says she will miss me. Then we have a discussion about when and where we’ll see each other again and all the things that will happen in between which seems to help.

Soon after we were packed up and saying goodbye to the builders, we do feel to have got to know them quite well as it has been the same team as last time, but for all the best reasons we hope not to see them again!

Headed along the M4 and even with a coffee stop we arrived by lunchtime, too soon to check in. We decided to walk to the entrance of Windsor Great Park to see how long it took. Our hotel is in Old Windsor just on the edge of the park.
Lots of security hedges and ditches along the way but when you reach the entrance the ‘Long Walk’ is open to all. You can walk down to Windsor Castle, which we will do tomorrow for our timed entrance, or walk the other way up to the viewpoint and statue of George III and beyond, both of which can been seen in the blip collage.

Now checked in, with a couple of hitches but all sorted now, and we have dinner booked for tonight. Resting up for our walk tomorrow. All flat so we should be ok but we have checked on the buses just in case!

Last night John wanted Eda to send a birthday message to one of her ‘big boy’ cousins in Harrogate. She did so holding her Tiger head which she made from a birthday present from Granny Sue. Had to get a snap of it,  it’s fabulous and I think it will be going on her wall.
