Historical Barnstaple

The oldest borough in England dating back as far as 900AD, and situated in the north of the county of Devon, in the south west of England.
The history of the Long Bridge over the river Taw goes way back, but can be found around the 13th century. It was originally constructed in stone with 16 arches, with a span of 520ft (Museum of Barnstaple for info). It has been widened over centuries, and still manages to cope with the modern day traffic.

The building to the left of the bridge is Bridge Chambers, and Grade2 listed Built in 1872-73. The the other side of the bridge is Museum of Barnstaple & North Devon, with a recent modern extension. And to the right of the Museum you can see the Albert Clock Tower, which was built in 1862. Has or had the reputation of the time on the clock faces never matching!!  

That is a very potted history, of the area around the bridge. Which I hope hasn't bored you. The rest of my day has been taken up with a Zoom interval class, and getting the car washed. :-)
