Quod oculus meus videt

The Quiraing

We’re now on the Isle of Skye, having driven up from Kentallen, near Glencoe.  This morning started early at 5:00 am with a drive of over an hour to the car park at The Quiraing. It was still dark but I was not even the first person there. I took a few images of the stars above the escarpment before walking out along the low path to the Needle (see extra - a quick edit)

It was soon possible to navigate without the benefit of a head torch.  More and more people were arriving, including a photographic workshop group.  I was under time pressure to get back in time for breakfast so I ended up only having half an hour when the sun was bathing the land. I’ve actually dialled down the saturation of this image.

After breakfast we visited Dunvegan Castle, before heading to Talisker Bay.  I hadn’t appreciated the distances between the different photographic locations, it will certainly take a few days to cover the iconic locations to do it justice.

Nb. Home now and I have been able to reprocess the images from this morning.  I've changed the main image to give a wider view and hopefully less colour cast than in the previous image.
