Litton tunnel
After yesterday's 'excitement' and lack of sleep, we allowed ourselves a lie-in this morning, but not for long. It's MrM's birthday, and we'd planned a day in Derbyshire. We did a circular walk from Lees Bottom, steeply uphill and over the tops before going down to join section of the Monsal Trail near Litton Mill. There are four tunnels on the trail, and we walked through two of them, Litton and Cressbrook. This is Litton Tunnel, the longer of the two, and at one point you can see neither the beginning nor end of the tunnel. Some fabulous scenery along the way too (extras). We left the trail from the viaduct at Monsal Head, and walked through the woods by the river Wye in Monsal Dale, back to the car park. A lovely walk, and though it was overcast it didn't rain, so MrM didn't have a chance to test his new waterproof jacket...
