Today's the day ....................... for the Wigtown Book Festival

This afternoon, we spent a very special hour with the Welsh award-winning author, songwriter and broadcaster, Cerys Matthews - at the Wigtown Book Festival

She shared her admiration for Dylan Thomas, one of the most beloved poets of the 20th century and how she came to work on an abridged and illustrated version of Under Milk Wood  for children, which came out in 2022.  She also delighted us with readings from  her selected compilation of his work, Out of Chaos Comes Bliss: Essential Poems.  

She was a most entertaining and accomplished speaker - and utterly inspiring in all that she said.  The atmosphere in the big Festival Marquee was relaxed and informal.  The hour passed way too quickly for me - I could have listened to her for much longer.  We went to get copies of her books at the end and as you might have guessed, she and Will got on very well!  He said that she made him proud to be Welsh - and I could quite understand why.  

A wonderful way to spend an afternoon ......................
