Rationing
Preparation for next week's workshop was interrupted this morning when my hosts sent me five problems on which HiGHS performs badly, so I spent time running and analysing them. After that I went into work where I had lunch with my new PhD students, and then spent a couple of hours in the office with them. I'd driven in so that I could pick up more dog food on the way back, so Django won't starve when I'm away.

Turf-wise I'm in a situation I've never encountered before. Because I took so many zones in Berlin, I'm identified as a German in Berlin for rankings. I'd quite like to keep it that way, so I've stopped taking zones in Scotland. Hodge saw me out, and explained the exact criterion, so I calculated that I could take no more than 29 Scottish zones before 11:00 on Sunday when the round ends. Hence I'm not in a position - and also too busy! - to help him much in his quest to reach a million points for a round for the first time. However, I took 10 zones when walking Django tonight, prompting him to come out to take them back. We chatted outside the Navaar as our paths crossed.
