Tiny Toadflax

Today’s challenge was getting the “Photo Gang” to meet up. Our chosen rendezvous was the National Trust’s Sizergh, a medieval Manor House with over 800 years of residence by by the same family.

P and I were the first to arrive after partaking breakfast at a nearby farm shop. While we waited we took a walk round the gardens which even this late in the year were still full of colour, with insects and butterflies flitting about.

I rather liked this tiny ivy-leaved toadflax with companion maidenhair spleenwort fern growing out of one of the dry stone walls, giving me my subject for Flower Friday.

R turned up just in time for morning coffee followed by another wander round the gardens. It was then time for lunch with lots of chat and catching up (this might be the start of a theme for this week), with W arriving a little while later. We then made our way to our holiday house in Ambleside with time for a walk round the town before settling in and starting to plan our trips for the week, though the weather may have other thoughts. Still there are plenty of cafes around!
