Off to the shops

It was so lovely to wake up to some sunshine and blue skies. A nice day for a drive across to Alston to visit the wholefood shop. The surroundings looked beautiful so I stopped and took quick photo.
Before that I'd had a walk down to the village hall on a mercy mission to open up. Gillian runs a pop up café there on a Friday morning and it was still locked. She invited me in for a coffee but I had left a freshly brewed coffee at home so dashed back up. I did go down later, after my shopping trip, for a coffee and a homemade scone.
The safeguarding team, who are helping my mum after my making them aware of the issues she is having to cope with where she lives, telephoned to keep me up to date with what is happening. They had spoken to my mum earlier that day and were amazed at how "on top of things she is for her almost 95 years". I told them that, yes she is amazing for her age but should not be having to worry about her safety, and I should not have to listen to her just about in tears every evening for the last few weeks! They were very helpful and have given me a number to call if I want further information. Unfortunately the resident who has been causing the problems had been taken away for assessment has returned. He has caused all sorts of damage over the last month or two, including slashing most of the chairs and sofas in the reception area. He also just sits down there constantly shouting disgusting, dreadful abuse at whoever is there. This has meant vulnerable people like my mum have been all but confined to their own flats. My mum is a sociable person and I found it unacceptable that he has appeared to be the one with all the rights, whilst the victims have been told to stay away! There was some better news this evening from mum as they have been told that security guards would be on duty from this evening. At least a little reassurance that something is being done and hopefully he will be moved to somewhere more suitable for his needs.
On the knitting front, I am now sewing up the first cardigan. It may get a blip in the next couple of days.
