Picking Pumpkins
Fine weather was forecast for today. The following week is scheduled to be very unsettled. So Basil and I went back to Oscar's Pumpkin Patch for the space and the quiet.
Several people were picking pumpkins as well as tackling the Maize Maze. When we arrived, several Afro-Caribbean gents were trundling wheelbarrows laden with maize cobs to their cars. I'm told that each barrow's worth fetched £50. Any maize left over will be used for animal feed in the winter.
Basil had a sausage and I had a latte. We sat in the warm sunshine and I chatted with a lady whose husband and two children had disappeared into the maze. They did come out before closing time.
I should have used a faster shutter speed for the photo so apologies for the blurring.
The marquee has reappeared, tethered with strong ties although I doubt they'll resist the hurricane forecast to arrive mid week. See extra.
See extra also for a photo of Basil refusing to come home. He really likes being at Oscar's to wander around
