On the Footplate

I decided to take the 'free' steam train over to Sheringham and back to get my Sunday newspaper given it's the Member's weekend. Both trips were hauled by Hercules which you can see in Extras arriving at Holt. Coming back from Sheringham the drivers were letting the public get up on the footplate, so I couldn't resist getting a photo. I should have used my camera phone so I could get the whole scene in. Believe me, it was very hot up there with the open firebox! This afternoon I hoed and weeded the border in front of part of the fences I've just 'painted'. Then I added three bags of farmyard manure as a top dressing - fortunately it wasn't smelly!
