Kilted Donut
Back on the trail of the #leithwalkshops today. A replacement for Knight's Kitchen, itself a replacement for the Carp T shop. So a third iteration in just a few years for this corner lot where Stead's Place meets Leith Walk. Kilted Donut have had a location in Leith before, but they closed it. I think it was on Great Junction Street. Now they are back....and the whole character of Leith Walk is changing.
Having come through Stead's Place from Stanwell Street via the steps down to the housing estate, I was curious to see that it does not look as if it will be long before the through route is open again. Just off Stanwell Street all the random vegetation has been ripped out and the ground dug over in preparation for landscaping, and a tarmac path has been put in. I assume there will be lights. Previously there was always a dodgy bit that I used to have my doubts about in the dark. Now it looks as if it will be perfectly possible to cycle through there from Leith Walk, which will make a nice shortcut. I took a photograph, and I reckon that for my records it's just about worth using an extra for it.
Anyway, whilst I was over on Leith Walk attending to my supermarket needs for the last few days of this stay, I picked up a morning bun as a treat from Hobz (which was rammed to the gunnels with hipsters and tourists) and then bought a couple of books in Argonaut Books (also very busy). See my comments above the character of Leith Walk. Clearly not the cheapest way to buy books, but there are clear ethical reasons for doing so there. Now I'm fully equipped for my upcoming lengthy travels (obviously along with stuff on my kindle).
Otherwise, I have had a quiet day. I was planning to do some work, but it hasn't really transpired except for a few emails I shot off this morning. I was quite late up, because I was quite late to bed and to sleep, after my pleasant night out. But I have read a fair bit of my book, so I always count that as productive when it's not work reading.
