Sally Mair - Loving life

Dinner date

Today was our Harvest Thanksgiving service at church. Like most churches, especially those in a rural setting, we donate tins and dried food which are donated to our local food bank. The flowers this morning were spectacular but I was so busy that I completely forget to take any pictures - which is annoying!
After my faux pass with the prayers the other week, I was glad I had updated the book as the son of another member of the congregation whose anniversary was today, was in church (that was long winded, sorry!).
I shot over to the hall after the service. I was disappointed that we weren't having our usual harvest lunch today, so last night I made an apple and almond cake for coffee time. I thought I'd been very clever by cutting it before bringing it to church, it looked really good, however (of course) it slid around the cake carrier while I was driving it to church. I did manage to spruce it up a bit though before serving and it certainly tasted good - another forgotten photo opportunity though!
This afternoon I met the painter at the Rectory, it's an expensive time ahead. While waiting for him I matched up some of the assorted keys I had, with the various locks in the rectory and made them into sensible (labelled) sets. I made sure that there was more than one of every key.
There were a huge number of keys left over though. I'm going to do a similar job with the various locks at church sometime, but I reckon there will be at least 50 and probably nearer 100 keys left over. Does anyone have any idea what to do with them? Can they be recycled?
Colin headed through to Paisley this evening as two of our friends were appearing in Paisley Opera performance of Faust: The Devil Went Down to Paisley.
I spent the evening on Duolingo, clearing a drawer and cooking.
The latter gave me my blip when I finally remembered to take a picture of the potato topped chicken pies I made for the girls. They also have a bagel crumb and cheese crouch (bagel crumb because I'd run out of bread to make into crumbs- you can tell I was well prepared!)
The drawer I cleared out was full of Sarees and the connected blouses and underskirts. I have kept one or two, but realistically I can't see me every wearing them again and I'm not going to get round to using the fabric. I had thought of selling them to find my India projects, but I'm just going to try to find a charity shop which will make good use of them.
Monday tomorrow, have a good week everyone - look forward to hearing about them all on blip.
