Common Enchantments

Covered

Early this morning we visited the Flight 93 Memorial that is the site of the fatal crash of a hijacked plan by terrorists on September 11, 2001. There is a chime tower that makes sounds when the wind blows. The visitor center is a solemn, sad space where one can view the crash site. I have no words. We were all visibly shaken when we left. We will never forget.

Next on our agenda was visits to four covered bridges as we made our way back to West Virginia. This was my favorite even though they all looked pretty much alike. Pennsylvania has hundreds of covered bridges.

We drove through the two lanes backroad enjoyed farms and old churches the leaf color was great in a few areas. We had a great lunch at an Italian place in Davis.

Stopped for the night at Lewisburg. Tomorrow we will do a drive to the New River Gorge National Park as two of my friends have not been. Then on the road to home.

I think I have ruined them for wanting to travel with me as I pack so much in a day. But we only had so much time to visit so we had to stay on the move.
