Moth to the flame
Caught up on some blips this morning and then popped into town for a present for m’boy’s forthcoming birthday.
I was having quite a nice potter about, but then one of those large group drumming bands started up in the middle of town. Having had my fill of the several of these that had passed through town last weekend, I got my hot chocolate fix from Kakaw to go and headed in the opposite direction down to Maude’s Meadow for a few moments of quiet contemplation.
It was nice to sit for a while and watch the bees buzzing around the flowers. To feel the gentle breeze and see the trees gently swaying. There was something about the woman unseen on the far side of the flower bed chatting away on her phone in French that added to the whole experience. I tell you, sometimes just sitting and “being” for a few moments is where true inner peace is at*.
The rest of the day was an easy one before I headed out for a follow-up date which - and I only mention this to try and put everyone (including myself) off online dating EVER again - ended with both parties disappointed as the realisation dawned a shade too late that the other was not going to be the one to give them what they needed.
I’m not religious nor massively keen on tattoos, but I’ll be honest, I’m tempted to have this quote from Sound of Metal etched/burned into my skin as a constant reminder that sometimes just standing still is no bad thing. I make no apology for repeating it once again:-
*“The world does keep moving, and it can be a damn cruel place. But for me, those moments of stillness, that place, that's the kingdom of God.”
If that doesn't work, I may treat myself to a "I am Kenough" hoodie...
