a lifetime burning

For whatever reasons the Dunnocks were a little more cautious in trying to feed today, and it took a while patiently waiting before they came out to pose for yours truly.

In some ways I actually prefer the birds to be on edge, as it means that there tends to be lots of behaviour to photograph - such as this Dunnock speeding back towards the cover of the nearest shrub.

It's been a bit of a lazy day as I've been a bit lacking in energy (possibly a minor side effect of the weekend's vaccinations).  That said I did find time to go into Bristol in search of Black Cardamom - not an easy spice to locate, but a vital ingredient in a couple of curry dishes that we enjoy.  Fortunately there is one oriental supermarket in Bristol that continues to stock them, so I came back with two packets which should keep us going for another 12 months!
