Taking shape

The Talbot Gateway into Blackpool is a combination of offices, shops and leisure outlets.

This area of Blackpool is one of many to get the renewal treatment.

This building was a particular eyesore. It houses the bus station and multi storey car park.

It was dark and uninspiring. I often thought if I'd been on a bus arriving here I would stay on the bus and leave as quickly as possible.

But the glass cladding and cobbled areas are definitely improving the area.

I wondered how traffic would flow around the site but the roads are getting finished and the traffic flow now appears excellent.

Sadly Blackpool has suffered decades of neglect and is one of the country's most deprived areas.

Deprivation and neglect do not get fixed quickly when they have gone on so long.

But things are moving in the right direction.

The past may be one of deprivation but the future doesn't have to be.
