Eating

PY went to the flat yesterday, and the new carpet was fitted today. While working, I got a few updates, and everything went smoothly. Once again, I could leave work for a Portsmouth-bound train to make the 7:20pm crossing. I bought a coffee at Waterloo and sat in the train's first carriage. That allows a swift exit to the ferry if the train is late but still in time for the boat. And, unlike my last two visits, all the connections and timings worked, and I was on The Island before 8pm. PY had bought some frozen fish with some frozen chips, but as we walked down the pier, we decided to go to The Codfather and have the real thing. We enjoyed them so much last weekend, we did the same again.

At the flat, the carpet is better than I expected. It makes a real difference underfoot, as the one that's now been removed was very thin, and you could feel the hard surface beneath. It made everything feel much nicer, but I was scared I would drop food on it (even worse, ketchup).

But, at least for this evening, it survived, even as we drank wine while watching another Celebrity Race Across the World.
