Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Busy day!

Today I reported for an EMG test (Electromyography test). Just as well I didn’t read about it before I went. The doctor’s assurances that it wasn’t going to be painful were rather economical with the truth.

I was wired up, patches placed in various points on my hand, each finger in turn had two more bare wires (like fencing wire) round it. Then she came at me with a double pronged electrical pulse and jabbed it into other places on my arm. This caused whichever finger it was, to twitch. In fact, because I could see when she was about to press the button, my whole body twitched!

Both hands were done, though not so thorough on my right hand. I asked nervously was she going to this to my feet, which were divested of socks and shoes in readiness for something… Yes.

Mostly, they were like bee stings, with odd corker. And she kindly warned me when she was going to do a fiver - FIVE blasts in a row!!

The upshot is, I have carpal tunnel, which I knew, and I just cope with it. But she seems to be recommending an operation.

I also went to a new dentist. The one I’ve been going to for years has gone private and can now charge £145 for a 20 minute session.

And a bonus is that while I was waiting for the bus, I spotted a wee notice in the Beauty Salon that they also hosted a private physiotherapist, first session £40, follow up £30!! So I’ve booked in there, though I go to the NHS physio (at last) this week - it’ll be good to compare their suggestions.

Too busy for photos today, so here’s a photo from last night.
