The Harbour café
Early this morning, so early that I didn't get a cup of coffee before leaving home, I had an appointment with my eye-doctor to do a checkup on my left eyelid, that had god a growth of something or other. As I didn't know if it was worth checking or not, I went to have it looked at. The doctor was a jolly character and she ensured me that it was nothing to worry about at this stage, if it starts growing, I was to immediately come back. She also looked at the conditions of the inside of my eyes and said I had a young cornea, just the kind of thing I want to hear. I tried to feel as young as my corneas on my way out.
Since I hadn't had my morning coffee yet I went to The Harbour café close by. It's a very old café, I've tried to find out how old but can't find tat detail on the web. I would guess from early 1900, possibly older. It's open from 6:30, a typical craftsmens café where they serve foodlike sandwiches with Egg&bacon, Fried herring, Salisbury steak, Salmon, Ham and cheese, Eggs and perhaps more. love the place with its atmosphere from a past time.
There is a story of a captain on a cargo ship travelling around the world, always stopping when passing Kalmar, sending a small boat to the café to order some special kind of sandwich, before continuing his journey. I'd like it to be true. If you're ever in Kalmar this place is a must for its atmosphere. 1924 or 2024, probably not much different.
No rain until this evening.
