Home again
We had intended to spend the morning exploring Alnwick, but not only had it rained all night, but it continued to rain all morning! We decided to drive straight back to Edinburgh and then thought it better to stop off at our daughter's flat just for lunch before driving back home, rather than staying overnight. My back was sore and I just wanted to get home. I had taken a Blip from the window of the house to compare with the pre-housing development view, but having used Mrs M's camera I was unable to download the picture when we got home. So my Blip today is of the books I bought at the Alnwick Station bookshop. Apart from the London books I found five more of one of my favourite detective series - Edward Marston's 'The Railway Detective', set in Victorian times.
It rained almost continuously until after crossing the border into Scotland, then this afternoon we had not long driven through Tyndrum when the sun came out, and stayed out all the way back to Oban - I think there'll be a lovely sunset here. What's the betting it was sunny at home when we were getting soaked in Northumberland! Never mind - we had a good few days away regardless of the weather!
Quote of the day: 'A house without books is like a room without windows.' - Horace Mann.
