Nuptials

I'm back-blipping this on Sunday night having been up until the wee small hours this morning dancing up a storm to celebrate the wedding of Minna and Greg.

This is the first wedding I've been to where the proceedings - readings and speeches - were partly conducted in both English and Finnish and where Finnish traditions and folk songs were incorporated into the festivities.

The 130 guests all brought food that they'd made themselves (I made courgette, fennel and ricotta tarts) and it was all absolutely delicious. I ate far too much but I'm hoping that the energetic shapes I threw on the dance-floor may have compensated for the amount of pudding I managed to find room for...

Three of the guests performed live music for the dancing and the assembled Finnish contingent (Minna's family and friends) got up on the stage rather in the style of the Von Trapp family and performed some hearty traditional numbers. Good grief, but those Finns know how to party! And it would seem that they have a particular fondness for strutting their stuff to 'These Boots Are Made For Walking'... But then, who doesn't?!

Congratulations Minna and Greg - not only do you make a lovely couple but you really know how to host a splendid bash!
