Some Thoughts After the Storm...

One of the first things I did this morning, after checking for structural damage (none that I could see) and feeding the dogs, was to feed the wild critters. I put out the hummingbird feeder but I haven't seen the little girl hummer who was still here a couple of days before Milton. I'm hopping that she took off for points south. Or maybe she hunkered down and will buzz by later.
Our part of Florida was once again very, very fortunate. I'm certain the low areas of the county, the ones that flood even after a hard rain, are most likely dealing with water in their homes. I hope not, but probably. We had wind gusts throughout the night and very early this morning and I heard a few large limbs hit the roof. Fletcher and I didn't see any additional trees down on our walk through the neighborhood this morn.
I haven't been able to bring myself to watch any news about the destruction in the southern part of my state. Even though Milton was downgraded to a Cat 3 as it crossed the peninsula, the storm surge, sustained winds of 135mph+ and the 20 38 tornados (a State record) spawned by the storm cut a major swatch of destruction across Central Florida. My heart breaks for all of the folks whose hopes and dreams were crushed by Milton. In the *extra...photo of radar image showing Milton shortly before landfall.  m
