Erehwon Station at the base of the Southern Alps
This was the top of OUR pass the wagons negotiated. It was very nice loop they took us on. We stopped here for pictures of scenery and the HORSES of course. This part of the Erehwon Station shows up the Clyde River Valley , which joins the Rangitata River which runs to the Pacific Ocean.
They use the horses for ploughing, harvesting and other work on the land. Erin, the Driver of our wagon, said it takes the same amount of time to do a job whether it's by tractor or horse-team. The time is in the preparation of harnessing and un-harnessing the horses. the horses do an 8hr day.
the wagon ride is what horse- power truely means!!!!!. More FUN than riding in my car!!!!
Highly recommend an outing, really "blows the cobwebs out" and fills the lungs with FRESH AIR and makes one aware of what ISOLATION really means.
