Fun(gus) in the sun

Last day of work for the week and now I am on holiday! A whole week at home without having to go anywhere or see anyone. I am so excited.

I celebrated the start of my holiday by heading out to the lake with a pretty, illustrated copy of Astrid Lindgren's "Mio, Min Mio" and read a good two thirds of it surrounded by the autumn colours and the sounds of the birds.

As I was leaving I saw a flash of colour and not one but two kingfishers swooped in, landed on a sunny branch, and sang a little bar of song before disappearing off to catch dinner.
