Stuff and Nonsense

Lindisfarne/Holy Island

With the tide times in our favour and a dry day ahead of us, we thought it best to go over to Lindisfarne whilst we could. It was a decent day with no rain but it was very windy in places. We started at the harbour to catch the birds on the falling tide and were rewarded with some nice views of common ringed plovers, grey plovers, godwits, redshank, dunlin and rock pipits - a promising start.
Whilst at the harbour, I think it's the law that you have to try and take some images of the castle with the boats and fishing paraphernalia in the foreground, so here is one of my slightly better efforts. My landscape photography needs some more work!
After lunch at a nice café, we noticed that the Hoopoe that had been on the island for the past couple of days had been spotted again, so off we trotted in search of it. It was quite a long way away on the other side of the island and we never did get to see it, but it was a lovely walk around the island.
Six hours later and we were both shattered and headed home but thoroughly enjoyed our day on Holy Island again.
