Autumn Copper
A lovely sunny day. I cut my #nomowsummer 'lawns'. It made me a bit sad scything through the sparkling spiders' webs and annihilating the ants' nests. I saw a little mouse running for its life, luckily into the area that I have left uncut like I did last year. I was hoping that no mow summer would attract lots of bugs to the garden for me to photograph. This didn't really happen, probably because the weather has been so wet. I did see wasp spiders and skipper and brown argus butterflies that haven't visited the garden before.
Mish and I found this small copper butterfly on one of the few flowering thistles down the field this afternoon. It's the first I've seen this year.
