Serenity

It’s been awhile since I stayed at Jamie’s and probably never when I was alone. No matter which child’s home I visit, I simply prefer to sleep in a recliner than upstairs in a guest room. I feel safer being on ground level. Willow slept in Abi’s bed; Raven and Belle Kitty stayed with me. Being a light sleeper, I heard every sound no matter how soft. Around 3:00, I thought I heard water running so I checked every room but found nothing. I finally awoke again after that last disturbance around 8:45. By then, hubby had completed his adopt a highway task, showered, dressed and was heading to the funeral when our Ring buzzed and woke me up. I had to stay home to sign for Abi’s new phone that was supposed to arrive while he was gone. It didn’t. Hubby brought me shrimp and rice with zucchini from our fav Mexican restaurant. He went home to finish mowing the lawn. I let the pups entertain me all day. Parker spent the night with a friend and worked at the golf club this afternoon. Most of our day has been on the back patio. Even though we live very close to one another, the sights and sounds are very different here. These grass seed heads are from one of three blood grasses Jamie planted by his pool. They caught my eye swaying in the breeze. The vacationers have boarded their cruise ship in Canaveral, FL. There are 10 travelers in their party. They really wanted us to join them for Abi’s 21st birthday/college graduation (in only three years) cruise but I just prefer to vacation on land. Jamie said the ocean is calm again post-hurricanes. I am relieved. Mancil just called. Tonight is Madi’s senior homecoming. He asked me to join them for photos so I’ll head over soon. Update: Mancil, Madi and his family are in my extra. We’ll have a quiet night. Parker should be home by midnight-his weekend curfew time. Wishing you a good night’s sleep long before midnight. Stay safe. Thanks for visiting. “Perhaps, after all, our best thoughts come when we are alone. It is good to listen, not to voices but to the wind blowing, to the brook running cool over polished stones, to bees drowsy with the weight of pollen. If we attend to the music of the earth, we reach serenity. And then, in some unexplained way, we share it with others.” - Gladys Taber
