Look mum, one hand!

Well, I guess that was autumn, because it was on with my winter gloves this afternoon.  I went out for a few miles just before it started to get dark, though you can see that I had my lights on.  The cranks – or more accurately I suspect, the chainrings – are still clicking a bit but I'm just ignoring it until I cave in and measure them very accurately to compare with newer ones.

It was really an excuse to try the new-to-me bike shoes.  They feel pretty good, and it seems I got the cleat positions near enough that I don't think I need to adjust them much, if at all.  Maybe 30 years of riding clipless is paying off.

I distracted myself this morning making a catch to keep the door to my woodworking tools cabinet closed.  For some reason the cabinet hasn't liked being hung on the French cleats and has twisted, and the magnet doesn't keep the door closed anymore, so a curtain rod hook and a loop of paracord will do the trick meantime.

Once that was done I installed the new battery in Fidra.  Except I didn't.  I distracted myself further by tidying the workbench a bit, putting away the crank puller tool and torque wrench and pedal wrench and things, and reinstalled the old cranks on my blue bike, so that it's at least rideable.

Then I installed the new battery in Fidra.  There is a current drain on the battery, which may be the USB sockets I installed last year that were supposed to be powered on only with the ignition, but I think I used the wrong wire.  I will try firing up Fidra once the weather stops being horrible!
