Golden evening light
Sunday 6 October
With the promise of a nice week ahead, we had decided to take the camper away for a few days, however, this was also the first Sunday that our church choir was back singing in service after our summer break, somewhat later this year than usual, so we went to church as usual in the morning and then returned home, changed, had a bit of lunch then put the bikes on, and a few other last minute things, then we were on our way, heading up to Maumee Bay State Park in the northwest of the state on Lake Erie, east of Toledo, about a 3 1/2 hour drive, depending on traffic etc. We arrived about 5.45. Google chose a lovely approach to the park, through Toledo’s industrial area with oil refineries and power stations! It’s hard to believe that less than 5 miles away is an area of unspoiled nature in Maumee Bay. It’s a great campground, spacious and with large pitches, screened from your neighbours by bushes. Having unhitched the camper and had a cup of tea, we went for a bit of a drive round, so I could get a blip before getting dinner, and it getting dark. There are a couple of small lakes on the campgrounds, and I chose one of those for my blip, bathed in the golden early evening light
