Look Out

Roa and Walney

My friends didn’t know the south Cumbria coast, so this morning saw us at Roa Island, and the after lunch Walney Island to see north west Englands only breeding (grey) seals.

The main image is Piel Castle viewed from Roa Island. It’s an intriguing corner of the world, and has an excellent café. The extra is a large boat passing too close to the seals slumped on the beach at Walney. During their pupping season they need to be left well alone.

The day was rounded by an excellent meal at the Wheatsheaf at Beetham. I took the three ladies back to Silverdale and then returned to Holly. Very tired, I decided my cold needed an early night.
